The Fool – 4/1/18

Today is April Fools Day. Consider who is really foolish. A fool

  • Does not obey God’s commands (Num. 12:11; 1 Sam. 13:13)
  • Does not rely on the Lord (2 Chron. 16:7-9)
  • Says in his heart, “There is no God” (Ps. 14:1; 53:1)
  • Blasphemes the name of the Lord (Ps. 74:18)
  • Does not understand the greatness of God’s works nor the depths of His thoughts (Ps. 92:5-6)
  • Despises wisdom and instruction (Prov. 1:7)
  • Hates knowledge (Prov. 1:22)
  • Spreads slander (Prov. 10:18)
  • Does evil as if it were sport (a joke) (Prov. 10:23)
  • Walks in the way right in his own eyes (Prov. 12:15)
  • Proclaims foolishness (Prov. 12:23; Isa. 32:6)
  • Flaunts his folly (Prov. 13:16)
  • Considers it an abomination to depart from evil (Prov. 13:19)
  • Pulls down her house with her hands (Prov. 14:1)
  • Mocks at sin (Prov. 14:9)
  • Rages and is self-confident (Prov. 14:16)
  • Is quick-tempered (Prov. 14:17)
  • Has a mouth that pours forth foolishness (Prov. 15:2)
  • Despises his father’s instruction (Prov. 15:5)
  • Has a mouth that feeds on foolishness (Prov. 15:14)
  • Despises his mother (Prov. 15:20)
  • Has eyes on the ends of the earth (Prov. 17:24)
  • Has no delight in understanding, but in expressing his own heart (Prov. 18:2)
  • Is perverse in his lips (Prov. 19:1)
  • Starts a quarrel and continues striving (Prov. 20:3)
  • Squanders things of value (Prov. 21:20)
  • Repeats his folly as a dog returns to its vomit (Prov. 26:11)
  • Trusts in his own heart (Prov. 28:26)
  • Vents all his feelings (Prov. 29:11)
  • Exalts himself (Prov. 30:32)
  • Walks in darkness (Eccl. 2:14)
  • Folds his hands and consumes his own flesh (Eccl. 4:5)
  • Delays to pay what he has vowed to the Lord (Eccl. 5:4)
  • Has his heart in the house of mirth (Eccl. 7:4)
  • Is angered quickly (Eccl. 7:9)
  • Multiplies words (Eccl. 10:14)
  • Has a heart that will work iniquity (Isa. 32:6)
  • Practices ungodliness (Isa. 32:6)
  • Utters error (Isa. 32:6)
  • Does not know God (Jer. 4:22)
  • Does not know the way of the Lord (Jer. 5:4)
  • Does not know the judgment of his God (Jer. 5:4)
  • Does not understand – having eyes that see not and ears that hear not (Jer. 5:21)
  • Hears Jesus’ words but does not do them (Matt. 7:26)
  • Is unprepared for the Lord’s coming (Matt. 25:1-13)
  • Appears clean outwardly, but inwardly is full of greed and wickedness – the hypocrite (Lk. 11:39-40)
  • Lays up treasure for himself and is not rich towards God (Lk. 12:13-21)
  • Knows God but does not glorify Him as God and is not thankful to Him (Rom. 1:21-22)
  • Stops obeying the truth (Gal. 3:1)
  • Does not walk circumspectly (Eph. 5:15)
  • Desires to be rich (1 Tim. 6:9)
  • Does not know that faith without works is dead (Jas. 2:20)
