Where Are You Going? – 1/1/17

Have you ever been asked, “Where are you going?” I remember growing up that I heard my parents ask that question many times. I appreciate the concern they showed for me, wanting to try and make sure I was going to the right places and doing the right things. For the same reasons, let me ask you the question, “Where are you going?” I am not asking about your plans for this afternoon or this week. I am asking, where are you going in life? You see, life ultimately ends in one of two destinations – “everlasting punishment” or “everlasting life” (Matt. 25:46). As it in our day-to-day journeys, the road you travel determines the destination. Therefore, Jesus counseled, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it” (Matt. 7:13-14). The road to the soul’s destruction is the road of disobedience. Paul said that Jesus would come “in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Thess. 1:8). The road leading to eternal life is the one of obedience. The Hebrew writer declared Jesus the “author of eternal salvation to all those who obey Him” (Heb. 5:9). I urge you to answer the question honestly and make changes if necessary. Where are you going?
